It contained the required notice of his right to dispute the debt within 30 days, but another letter sent on April 23 contained the same dispute information even though this was a subsequent communication and any attempts to benefit from this nonexistent notice period would have been to his detriment.

Feeling harassed by the Law Offices of Steven Cohen, he hired a consumer attorney and launched a class action lawsuit against the firm for the using false, deceptive, or misleading means to collect a debt.

The matter was later settled.
