Alleged Violations against Weinberg Mediation Group, LLC

According to PACER, in or around November 2016, Weinberg Mediation Group, LLC started calling a New York consumer to collect a debt. He claimed that in December, a collector called his mother and told her that they were going to have her son arrested and garnish his wages.

When the consumer called Weinberg Mediation Group, LLC, a representative allegedly belittled him and asked him how could he put his mother through this.

They also allegedly told him that he was a grown man and should take care of his debts, and threatened to contact his workplace, have his wages garnished, and apply a cost exceeding $3000.00 in lawyer fees.

In June 2017, Weinberg Mediation Group, LLC allegedly left a voice message on the answering machine of the consumer’s mother, threatening to have the county involved if he failed to pay the debt.

Feeling harassed by Weinberg Mediation Group, LLC, the consumer filed an FDCPA lawsuit against the agency for allegedly:

  • Using harassing and abusive means to collect a debt
  • Discussing the consumer’s debt with his mother
  • Threatening legal action it could not take

The matter was later resolved.
