Are you being called by Precision Credit, LLC?* Here’s what you need to know.

Buying, selling, and collecting debts is a booming business, especially when financial difficulties are forcing so many people to fall behind on their credit card, medical debt, and student loan payments. Professional debt buyers will buy huge debt portfolios for an average of pennies on the dollar and then collect the full value, representing huge profits. If a debt buyer is abusing you to maximize their return on investment, a consumer attorney can help you stop them from profiting at your expense.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDCPA, protects consumers from harassment by third-party collection agencies. Debt collectors are prohibited from using pressure tactics like the following to make you pay:

  • Calling at all hours of the day and night
  • Harassing you even after you have retained an attorney regarding the debt
  • Calling you at work after you tell them that you can’t take personal calls there
  • Pretending to be attorneys or police officers
  • Discussing the debt with uninvolved third parties like your friends, family and neighbors
  • Using abusive language

Alleged Violations against Precision Credit, LLC

According to PACER, in or around early 2016, Precision Credit, LLC allegedly started trying to collect a debt from an Oregon resident. She later complained that collectors misrepresented the amount of interest the debt had allegedly accrued and illegally allowed interest to accumulate before advising her of the existence of a claim.

Feeling harassed by Precision Credit, LLC, she hired a consumer attorney and sued the company for allegedly violating the FDCPA by misrepresenting the character, amount, or legal status of the debt.

The matter was later dismissed.
