Is Praxis Financial Solutions Inc Calling You?*

Stop the
Harassment

You have legal rights. We can help.

Is Praxis Financial Solutions Inc calling you? Here’s what you need to know.

At some point in your life, you will probably miss a payment or two on your credit cards, mortgage or student loans. Creditors can be understanding if you make up the payments soon afterward, but if you lose your job and can’t afford to catch up, the situation changes. Eventually your accounts will be assigned to a third-party debt collector, and many of them are relentless in their pursuit of your money.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDCPA, was passed in 1977 to protect indebted consumers from harassment by third-party debt collectors. Under the FDCPA, a collection agency and its representatives may not use methods like the following to collect a debt.

  • Using profane and obscene language
  • Calling you before 8:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m. in your time zone
  • Calling you at your workplace when they know that your employer doesn’t permit you to take such calls
  • Telling uninvolved third parties like your friends and co-workers that you owe money
  • Demanding an amount that is not supported by law or the original debt agreement

Although illegal, activities like these continue to be used by debt collectors who hope that you won’t know enough about your rights to report the harassment.

Praxis Financial Solutions Inc is a collection agency located in Lincolnwood, Illinois. It was established in 2006, has 30 employees, and is a member of DBA International. According to records on file at the PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records) website, Praxis Financial Solutions Inc has been accused of multiple FDCPA violations during the 10 years it has been in business.

Alleged FDCPA Violations

In 2008 a Maryland resident began getting calls from Praxis Financial Solutions Inc about a personal debt it had been assigned to collect. When she insisted that she disputed the debt, one caller allegedly told her she had no right to do so.

When the calls allegedly continued, she hired a consumer attorney and sued Praxis Financial Solutions Inc for the following alleged FDCPA violations:

  • Using false, deceptive and misleading means to collect a debt
  • Failing to disclose her right to dispute the debt
  • Failing to provide her with a debt validation notice

The matter was later dismissed.

The phone numbers for Praxis Financial Solutions Inc are 1-866-611-3411 and 1-847-676-1111. Should either one appear on your caller ID, it means that a debt collector is calling. You always have a right to dispute any debt, so if the collector tells you differently and keeps contacting you afterward, see a consumer attorney who will help you protect your rights.

If you decide to sue Praxis Financial Solutions Inc you could potentially be awarded $1,000 per FDCPA violation plus attorney’s fees, court costs, and any actual damages. When a debt collector goes too far with you, the law enables you to take a stand.
