On or about May 17, she told the agency that they were contacting the wrong person because she never opened an account with the creditor. In response, Innovative Recovery, Inc. allegedly told the consumer that she was being investigated for fraud and would be thrown in jail if she did not pay the debt.

Feeling harassed by Innovative Recovery, Inc., she hired legal counsel and sued the agency for allegedly:

  • Using false, deceptive, and misleading means to collect a debt
  • Using unfair and unconscionable means to collect a debt
  • Using harassing and abusive means to collect a debt

The matter was settled.
