Are You Being Called By IEI Financial Services?

Few situations in life are more stressful than debt that continues to mount. It becomes worse when debt collectors begin to issue threats and call your relatives if you can’t and don’t pay. Fortunately, the law protects you when a debt collector takes things to extremes.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act dictates what methods collection agencies may use to collect a debt. If you are intimidated, sworn at, or otherwise harassed in ways like the following, get a free case review from a consumer lawyer.

● Swearing and using profane language
● Calling at all hours of the day and night
● Ordering you to pay during the dispute period
● Discussing the debt with your family and friends
● Threatening to have you arrested
● Leaving vague messages

Alleged Violations against IEI Financial Services

According to PACER, on or around September 21, 2004, IEI Financial Services sent a collection letter to an Indiana consumer regarding an unpaid utility bill. She insisted that she had never signed up for services from Indiana Power and Light Company, and that instead of verifying the debt, the company escalated its payment demands.

Feeling harassed by IEI Financial Services, she hired a consumer lawyer and sued the company for:

● Not validating the debt
● Chasing her for a debt she did not owe

The matter was later settled.
