Are You Being Called By Goldsmith & Hull? Here’s What You Need to Know

If you owe a debt, there are state and federal laws in place that prohibit collection agencies from violating your rights to get the money. Unfortunately, some debt collectors still use a number of illegal practices in their attempt to collect what you owe.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

In 1977 Congress passed the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) to stop the harassment and bullying tactics used by debt collectors. If a collection agency violates the FDCPA, you have a right to bring a lawsuit against them and demand compensation.

  • Calling you before 8:00 a.m. and after 9:00 p.m. in your time zone
  • Trying to collect an amount that is not authorized by law or the original creditor agreement
  • Calling you at work after you’ve told them you’re not allowed to talk to them there
  • Using profane and obscene language
  • Contacting your friends, family and co-workers and discussing the debt with them
  • Using constant phone calls to annoy or harass you

Goldsmith & Hull have sent me a notice of levy for an old (20 years) debt for substantially more than the original debt, even w/o the accrued interest. This is also a debt that I made payments on. This is completely unethical. Thank You, Garrick
