Are you being called by Enhanced Acquisition LLC?* Here’s what you need to know.
People fall into major debt for reasons that have nothing to do with financial irresponsibility. They are laid off, become disabled, or experience an expensive setback like a divorce. Once an account goes into arrears, creditors will assign them to third-party debt collectors who will go to great lengths to settle the account, even if it does cross the line into abuse.
Your Rights Under the FDCPA
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDCPA, gives consumers the right to dispute a debt and tell a collector to stop contacting them. It also prohibits the use of methods like the following to collect a debt.
- Using profane and obscene language
- Calling you at work after you’ve told them that your workplace doesn’t allow such calls
- Pretending to be police officers or federal agents
- Calling you before 8:00 a.m. and after 9:00 p.m. in your time zone
- Telling your friends, neighbors and co-workers that you owe money and they are trying to collect it from you
- Attempting to collect a debt that is in dispute
