Stop the
Harassment

You have legal rights. We can help.

An aggressive collection agency can damage your life on multiple levels. The Houston Chronicle reported the case of a man who was denied a job at a bank over a $40 debt he had paid long ago.

He filed a lawsuit against the creditor that was still reporting the debt as active, knowing that the tradeline had probably subjected him to higher interest rates and other penalties.

If a debt collector impacts your life in this manner, there are steps you can take to seek compensation.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) was passed over 40 years ago to prevent consumers from having their futures ruined by abusive and unethical collection agencies. Today, you can take legal action against a company that does any of the following:

  • Threatening to ‘expose’ you as a deadbeat to your boss, friends, and family
  • Swearing at you over the phone and in voicemails
  • Saying that the police can arrest you for nonpayment of a debt
  • Threatening to hurt your credit if you don’t pay
  • Trying to collect a time-barred debt
  • Demanding that you pay more than you actually owe

I had a car that I had a loan on for $16,000 ended up turning the car back into the place I loaned it from. They told me they would try selling as high as it could go. The amount it came out before selling was $20,000 and now Bermin and Robin P.A sent me a letter that says I need to pay in full $10,061.10. I got this letter on the 8th of May but they said they would pursue legal action on the 24th of April. I don't know what to do or how I can pay this massive debt off since I turned in the car that had the debt in the first place.
