Are You Being Called By Advanced Capital Solutions, Inc.*? Here’s What You Need to Know

Debt collectors often engage in unethical and even illegal conduct to get money from people who have fallen on difficult times financially. They may even call your friends, family, and workplace to embarrass you. Don’t give in to such abusive treatment, especially since it is illegal and the legal remedies at your disposal include suing the collection agency.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

Congress passed the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDCPA, over 40 years ago because so many consumers were being harassed by third-party collection agencies. The FDCPA grants you the right to dispute a debt and punishes debt collectors who try to force payment by:

  • Failing to identify themselves as debt collectors seeking to collect a deb
  • Threatening legal actions they cannot take or have no intention of taking
  • Using obscene, profane, and threatening language
  • Contacting your friends, family, and co-workers about the debt
  • Contacting you after you retain an attorney
  • Trying to collect a debt discharged in bankruptcy
