Is Western Control Services Inc Calling You?*

Is Western Control Services Inc calling you? Here’s what you need to know.*

If you’ve fallen into arrears with your monthly debt obligations and are not in a position to pay, you will soon be hearing from debt collectors who are determined to succeed where the original creditor failed. They could harass you by telephone, threaten to garnish your wages, or pressure you by discussing your debt with people you know. If this happens, know your rights and what you can do to help yourself.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDCPA, requires third-party debt collectors to behave professionally when communicating with consumers, so if you’re being bullied, that collector is breaking the law. Below are some of the ruses that debt collectors continue to use despite their being illegal.

  • Calling at all hours of the day and night
  • Discussing your debt with anyone except you, your spouse, or your attorney
  • Swearing, raising their voice, and using obscene language
  • Claiming that you owe an amount that’s not supported by law or the original creditor agreement
  • Making threats they cannot legally carry out or have no intention of carrying out
