Sharon Brimage vs. Action Collection Agency of Boston

According to PACER** , in February 2016, Massachusetts resident Sharon Brimage began receiving calls from a phone number she did not recognize. On February 8, she returned the calls to find out who had been repeatedly calling her and for what purpose. When she confirmed her identity with the party who answered, the representative advised her that the calls she had been receiving were from “Action Collection Agency of Boston.” Ms. Brimage later claimed that this person did not warn her that the communication was with a third-party debt collector attempting to collect a debt and/or that any information obtained would be used for that purpose.

She hired a consumer attorney and sued Action Collection Agency of Boston for allegedly violating the FDCPA by using false, misleading and deceptive means to collect a debt.

The matter was later voluntarily dismissed.
