According to information on the PACER website, in or around May 2011, Harrison Ross Byck, PC allegedly tried to collect a debt from a Pennsylvania consumer by calling her father and saying that they were debt collectors and that they were going to arrest her and take her to jail.

In response, he told them that the consumer did not live with him and not to call him again. Nonetheless, Harrison Ross Byck, PC allegedly called him two more times in early June 2011.

Collectors allegedly also called the consumer at her workplace, and when she told them to stop calling her at work, the calls continued. She claimed that they threatened to take her house and when she said she didn’t think that was possible, the caller replied, “ We have our ways.”

In or around June 2011, the consumer sent Harrison Ross Byck, PC a cease communications letter, but the calls allegedly continued, with one collector calling her ‘stupid’ for sending the letter.

Feeling harassed by Harrison Ross Byck, PC, the consumer sued the firm for:

  • Using false, deceptive, and misleading means to collect a debt
  • Using unfair and unconscionable means to collect a debt
  • Communicating debt information to third parties
  • Calling her at work after being asked to stop

The matter was later settled.
