Are You Being Called By Advanced Recovery Systems, Inc*.? Here’s What You Need to Know

Debt collection is an industry worth billions of dollars and affects the lives of over 70 million consumers, especially those with credit card and medical debt. Collection agencies also generate more complaints than any other financial product or service. While many debt collectors obey consumer protection laws, several engage in illegal practices.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDCPA, prohibits the use of unfair, deceptive, or abuse debt collection practices. If you’re being hounded by a collection agency that does any of the following, speak with a consumer lawyer to discuss taking action against the company.

  • Calling at inconvenient times, such as before 8:00 a.m. and after 9:00 p.m. in your time zone
  • Failing to identify themselves during each communication as a debt collector seeking to collect a debt
  • Contacting you after you have requested that all communications cease
  • Calling you names and using profane language
  • Refusing to validate the debt and prove that they are authorized to collect it
  • Threatening action they are not in a position to legally take
