Are You Being Called By Unifund CCR, LLC?*

Being chased by debt collectors can take a serious toll on your physical and mental well-being. Many collectors receive a commission on what they collect, so they don’t hesitate to cross the line between legal contact and outright harassment. If this happens to you, you have grounds to fight back.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) was passed in 1977 to protect consumers from unethical debt collection practices and regulate third-party debt collector conduct. It prohibits methods like the following when used to settle a debt.

  • Calling at inconvenient times, such as before 8:00 a.m. and after 9:00 p.m. in your time zone
  • Using an autodialer to leave a series of pre-recorded messages
  • Threatening legal actions that they have no intention of taking
  • Using profane or obscene language
  • Ignoring you when you dispute the debt and tell them not to call again
  • Discussing the debt with anyone but you, your spouse, or your attorney
