According to PACER, on or about December 5, 2011, Tri-State Adjustments, Inc. sent a collection letter to a Wisconsin woman seeking payment for a medical debt. Another letter followed or about February 27, 2012, this one seeking a higher amount.

He concluded that the company was attempting to collect interest on the alleged debts although it had no legal basis for doing so.

Feeling harassed by Tri-State Adjustments, Inc., he hired a consumer attorney and sued the company for allegedly violating the FDCPA in the following ways:

  • Using false, deceptive, and misleading means to collect a debt
  • Misrepresenting the character, amount or legal status of the debt
  • Using unfair and unconscionable means to collect a debt

The matter was later dismissed.
