According to PACER, on or around August 2012, Key 2 Recovery, Inc. began contacting a Kentucky consumer to collect a debt allegedly owed to a university. During the first conversation, the caller allegedly told him that the agency was entitled to collect a large amount of collection fees in addition to the tuition bill.

This discussion was allegedly followed by multiple calls to his workplace, although he requested the company to stop calling him there.

Feeling harassed by Key 2 Recovery, Inc., the consumer filed an FDCPA lawsuit against the company for allegedly:

  • Calling at work although such calls were prohibited by the employer
  • Using unfair and unconscionable means to collect a debt

The matter was later dismissed.
