The Brachfeld Law Group is a debt collection law office located in El Segundo, California, with branch offices in Columbus, Ohio and Houston, Texas. It was established in 2001, has approximately 160 employees, and is managed by founder Erica L. Brachfeld. Alleged Violations against the Brachfeld Law Group

According to PACER, on or around late 2012 or early 2013, a New York consumer was called by the Brachfeld Law Group, which allegedly left voicemail messages that stated, “My name is Haydon. I’m calling with the The Brachfeld Law Group.” No other information was given.

Feeling harassed by the Brachfeld Law Group, the consumer hired a consumer attorney and launched a class action lawsuit because she suspected that the same approach was being used on other consumers. In her opinion these messages implied that the communications came from a law firm in a practical sense, so she sued the firm for allegedly using false, deceptive, and misleading means to collect a debt.

The matter was later dismissed.

The phone numbers for the Brachfeld Law Group are as follows

If any of these numbers appear on your caller ID, be warned that you are being called by the Brachfeld Law Group, likely about an alleged debt. If they leave voice messages that do not identify them as debt collectors, hire a consumer attorney. Such a lack of transparency is illegal under the FDCPA, and if you file a claim against the Brachfeld Law Group and win, you could potentially receive $1,000 per violation as well as attorney’s fees, court costs, and any actual damages. When debt collectors ignore your rights, the law gives you the ability to send them a stern reminder.
