Alleged Violations against SaVit Collection Agency
In August of 2014, SaVit Collection Agency sent a collection letter to a Pennsylvania resident regarding a medical debt he had incurred. The letter was a pre-printed form, designated by the sequence “B52862-0B5” that appears directly above the plaintiff’s name in the top third of the document.
The letter was sent in a “glassine window” envelope and the sequence “B52862” was clearly visible through this window. “B52862” was an “Account #” that SaVit Collection Agency assigned to Mr. Walton, and as such constituted personal identifying information. When another letter arrived in September and the same presentation was observed, he hired a consumer attorney and filed a class action lawsuit against the company for using language or symbols, other than the debt collector’s address, on envelopes when communicating with a consumer
The matter was later dismissed.
