Are You Being Called By Wealthbridge Mortgage Corp?* Here’s What You Need to Know

Debt can overcome you when you least expect it. For example, COVID-19 left thousands, if not millions, of people, unable to stay afloat financially. Once you go into arrears, however, debt collectors will start calling, and not all of them will treat you civilly.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) prevents debt collectors from abusing consumers by threatening them, tricking them into paying, or shaming them publicly. Actions like those outlined below can result in fines and even license revocation.

  • Calling you outside the hours of 8:00 a.m to 9:00 p.m.
  • Posing as law enforcement
  • Failing to send a debt validation letter
  • Claiming that you can go to prison for not paying a debt
  • Harassing you over a debt you never incurred
  • Leaving voice messages that do not identify them as debt collectors

Alleged Violations against Wealthbridge Mortgage Corp**

According to PACER, on or around July 25, 2010, Wealthbridge Mortgage Corp executed an agreement with a New Jersey consumer regarding a mortgage loan repayment. The agreement required her to make 11 payments of $1,678.48, but when the loan servicer changed to another company, she was shocked to receive a permanent loan modification that was completely different from what Wealthbridge Mortgage Corp had allegedly agreed to.

Feeling harassed by Wealthbridge Mortgage Corp, she contacted a consumer lawyer before suing the organization for using deceptive and unfair means to collect a debt.

The matter was later dismissed.
