Are You Being Called By Planet Home Lending, LLC?*

Few situations in life are more stressful than owing more money than you can afford to pay back. It becomes worse when debt collectors call you at all hours, demanding payment and threatening to garnish your wages or take your house. Fortunately, a federal law protects you when a debt collector goes too far.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDCPA, protects those who owe consumer debts. Any third-party collection agency that deceives or threatens you in ways like the following can be penalized and ordered to compensate you.

  • Persisting in trying to collect a disputed debt
  • Calling you outside the hours of 8:00 a.m to 9:00 p.m. in your time zone
  • Adding illegal service fees to the original debt
  • Calling your family when they have your contact information
  • Trying to collect when you refuse to pay
  • Threatening to publish your name on a debtor’s list

The consumer had filed for bankruptcy the previous September and the agency had already filed a proof of claim, so the letter appeared to violate the automatic bankruptcy stay.

I believe Countrywide Home Loans deceived my parents in their home loan. Now Planet Home Lending has the loan and are trying to foreclose. Both my parents died in 2020 and PHL says we owe 2.5 times the original amount at almost 10% and offering 40 year payment term! Ridiculous! I need help!
