Are You Being Called By Specialized Collection Systems, Inc.*? Here’s What You Need to Know

Sometimes it seems as if your phone won’t stop ringing. Debt collectors are harassing you day and night- at home and on the job, leaving messages demanding payment in no uncertain terms. Knowing how to deal with a collection agency when they behave in this manner can prevent you from making decisions you could regret later.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) helps protect consumers from harassing means used by third-party debt collectors. It regulates the conduct of these collection agencies and will fine or shut down a company that uses tactics like those below.

  • Calling at all hours of the day and night
  • Discussing the debt with uninvolved third parties like your friends, family and neighbors
  • Contacting you after you have sent a cease and desist letter
  • Using profane or obscene language
  • Making threats that they are unable to legally follow up on, such as getting you arrested
  • Calling you in the morning before 8:00 a.m. and evening after 9:00 p.m. in your time zone

They just called me for a debt I owe and said they were with USA Attorney and if I didn't pay or set up payment this will escalate further into being sued.
