Are You Being Called By West Asset Management, Inc.?*

West Asset Management may be calling you. Do you know your rights?

It is highly stressful to owe more money than you can ever hope to pay back. When your creditors finally turn the accounts over to third-party debt collectors or charge them off and sell them to junk debt buyers, a literal nightmare can result, unless you know your rights and are prepared to act on them.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDCPA, was passed in 1977 to protect consumers like you from abusive debt collectors.

This law forbids actions like the following during attempts to collect a debt.

  • Using profane and obscene language
  • Refusing or failing to validate a debt and confirm their right to collect it
  • Talking to anyone about the debt except you, your spouse, your attorney, or any co-signers
  • Threatening to have you arrested or imprisoned if you don’t pay
  • Failing or refusing to properly validate the debt
  • Calling you at work when your employer does not allow such calls
