Stop the
Harassment

You have legal rights. We can help.

Are you so sick of being harassed by debt collectors that you’re thinking of declaring bankruptcy to stop the phone calls and letters? While bankruptcy can be a solution when you’re drowning in debt, there are other ways of making the abusive communications stop.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDCPA, is a consumer protection law that prohibits abusive and aggressive collection tactics. If a collection agency uses strategies like the following to scare or bully you into paying a debt, the FDCPA allows you to sue them.

  • Pursuing you for a debt that was discharged in a prior bankruptcy
  • Trying to charge you ‘service fees’ for paying your debt
  • Calling you before 8:00 a.m. and after 9:00 p.m.
  • Leaving voice messages that conceal their identity
  • Contacting you directly after you hire an attorney
  • Calling you abusive names
